Inspired by the awe-inspiring music community in Syracuse, this shoot features a freshman band new to the scene: XO. This shoot is influenced by the film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World as we see two bands, FADS models and XO, riff of in a glamorous showdown.
As Head of Video, I was responsible for shooting and editing, collaborating with FADs in-house models, stylists, and makeup artists.
After this experience of shooting and editing for FADS, I feel my job as head of video for FADS goes beyond being a video director. I actually have a sense of responsibility to bring the work of many behind-the-scenes talents to the public.
I was responsible for shooting and editing, collaborating with 20 FADS models, stylists, makeup artists, and one drone videographer.
"Dian, where did those models buy the dresses in the video? I wanna get one!" my roommate asked after I showed her the video. I replied, "No, no, our stylist team made those from fabric! And the headpieces were made by our set design team, who are all architecture students at Syracuse University."
For this shoot, my role was to bring the creative director’s vision to life by experimenting with a large number of extras to create spatial formations as well as performance art.
The Empire highlights the masses who flock to fashion for a greater sense of purpose.
As the editor and video director for the fashion show, I coordinated the location, seating, Instagram campaign, and lighting. The video featured over 70 looks, and the event attracted approximately 300 attendees.

For the Fashion and Design Society's (FADS) most significant event of the school year, I created a promotional video themed "Neptune," conceptualized by the club's creative director, Zoe Boise.
Drawing inspiration from the peculiarities and wonders of sci-fi worlds depicted in film and TV, FADS invites viewers to experience a celestial ball in outer space.
During college, I joined the school's fashion and design society club as head of video for one school year. Fads conducts monthly shooting and a semi annual fashion show.
I conducted monthly shoots for FADS, produced the promotional video leading up to the final fashion show-NEPTUNE’S BALL, and created the final show video, which including 49 models and 70+ looks.
This opportunity was extremely precious to me. It was my first time working with a team as one of the board members. I had the chance to express my ideas in videos. At the same time, I communicated with various professional departments of FADs, such as models, make up artist, stylists, photographers, graphic design team, set design team, social media team and our board members.
